Week 1
Review:
Use the musical slogans to determine the letter name of each line note on the treble clef staff.

1) Turn to page 8 in your "My Recorder Book"
2) Using fingers only, say the letter names as you cover the appropriate holes on the recorder for "Hot Cross Buns.
3) Play "Hot Cross Buns". Remember to: cover the holes tightly, cover the holes completely and blow gently.
4) Send me a recording of yourself playing "Hot Cross Buns" on your recorder.
If you do not have your recorder, use your memory to hum "Hot Cross Buns" using an air recorder ( pretend or imaginary recorder).

4th & 5th grade students learn to play recorders during music class. Your child will need to purchase a recorder and a “My Recorder Book.” You may purchase the recorder at a retail store or you may purchase both the book and recorder from the school. The cost for the recorder and book is $10.00. If your child already has a recorder and needs the book only, the cost is $6.00 for a book. Replacement cost for a recorder is $4.00.
Please remember that your child will be using the book and recorder for their entire 4th grade school year, and 5th graders will be using the recorder and book for the 1st semester of their 5th grade school year.
Checks should be made payable to: Mary Hughes School. Money should be turned in to Mrs. Hicks by August 23rd. Recorders and books will be ordered on August 23rd.
f your child already has a recorder and a “My Recorder Book” then you do not need to purchase anything. If your child does not have a recorder and book by the specified date, they will be given an alternate assignment during music.
